A method of making a collagen sponge involves adding air to the collagen gel and mixing to obtain collagen foam, which is then dried. From the dried product obtained in this way, a collagen sponge is obtained by separating the parts of the sponge with a chamber diameter of more than 0.75 and less than 4 mm or parts with an average diagonal size of the chambers of 3 mm. The collagen sponge can be used as a wound closure material, possibly with fibrin glue coating, for example a combination of fibrinogen, thrombin and aprotinin. |
