The Salmonella microorganism contains an attenuating mutation that disrupts the expression of a hardware gene located in the Spi2 pathogenicity island, and an axotrophic mutation. Thus, an attenuated microorganism contains a double mutation, which helps to prevent reactivation of the microorganism while maintaining the effectiveness of the microorganism in inducing an immune response, and is used to treat a bacterial or viral infection. |
