The present invention relates to methods and pharmaceutical compositions intended for in situ modification of recipient mammalian cells using DNA encoding a secreted protein, such as human interferon. These methods include obtaining a secretion protein expression system in vivo or ex vivo and administering this expression system to a recipient mammal. This expression system and methods of its application provide effective localized and systemic delivery of interferons in situ. |
