titleOfInvention METHOD OF OBTAINING AMMONIUM MODIFIED MORDENITE
abstract 1. Method for preparing a modified ammonium mordenite, wherein (1) an ammonium mordenite is dried under such conditions that the mordenite remains in ammonium form, and (2) the resulting dried ammonium mordenite is processed with gas-phase tetrachlorosilane at 300-600 degree C 2. Method according to Claim 1, wherein a drying stage is executed at a temperature below 400 degree C, preferably within 230-350 degree C during 180-540 min., preferably 360-480 min. 3. Method according to Claim 1 and 2, wherein said drying stage (1) is executed at a pressure equal or below 3 bars. 4. Method according to any of the preceding Claims wherein silylation stage (2) is executed at an atmospheric pressure at a temperature 450-550 degree C during 60-180 min., preferably 120-160 min. 5. Method according to Claim 1, wherein the mordenite in ammonium form has an atomic ratio Si/Al from 10:1 to 30:1 preferably from 15:1 to 25:1. 6. Catalyst for producing methylamines from methanol and ammonia, representing the modified ammonium mordenite prepared by a method as claimed in any of the preceding Claims. 7. Method for preparing methylamines wherein a mixture of methanol and ammonia in a gas phase is passed at raised temperatures above the catalyst, said catalyst represents said modified ammonium mordenite, obtained by the method according to any of 1-5 preceding Claims. 8. Method according to Claim 8, wherein a mixture of methanol and ammonia is used in such quantities so as to have atomic ratio nitrogen/carbon being from 0.5:1 to 5:1, preferably from 0.8:1 to 2:1. 9. Method according to any of 8 and 9 Claims, wherein the rate of methanole feed is 0.1-2.0 kg/hr of catalyst. 10. Method according to any of 8-10 Claims, wherein the reaction is executed at a temperature between 220 and 350 degree C, preferably between 280 and 320 degree C. 11. Method according to any of 8-11 Claims, wherein the reaction is executed at a pressure from atmospheric to 100 bar, preferably at 1-50 bar. 12. Method according to any of 8-11 Claims, wherein a mixture of methanole and ammonia comprises monomethylamine and/or dimethylamine and/or trimethylamine.
