abstract Animal waste constituted primarily of slaughterhouse wastes, confiscated animals and naturally dying animals can be heated under pressure and separated into a solid phase of bone and proteins and a liquid phase of melted fat and water. In the method, the offal material is chopped into pieces not larger than 2 cm and heated to a temperature between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius. The material thus pretreated can be effectively separated during pressing into a solid and a liquid phase. The press used is a screw press with a screen wall.
