For determining antithrombin BM, an antithrombin BM cofactor, thrombin and a determinable thrombin substrate are added to the sample solution, and the cleavage of the thrombin substrate is ascertained as a measure of the antithrombin BM activity, with heparin, xylan, λ- carrageenan, dextran sulphate, mucopolysaccharide- polysulphuric acid ester, pentosan polysulphate, or a short-chain heparin derivative prepared by chemically or enzymically cleaving heparin being used as the cofactor. |
