abstract | Process for producing low molecular weight heparin (LMW heparin) by enzymically depolymerizing heparin with heparinase, with heparin being continuously added to a depolymerization zone, the depolymerized LMW heparin being subjected to ultrafiltration, the retentate being circulated to the depolymerization zone and the LMW heparin being recovered from the filtrate. The process makes it possible to produce LMW heparin of a desired molecular weight and low polydispersity within narrow limits by continuously or frequently measuring the molecular weight and polydispersity of the LMW heparin product and correcting the process parameters of the depolymerization reaction in order to counteract deviations in the molecular weight and the polydispersity from the desired values. <IMAGE> |
