titleOfInvention | Determination of Intracellular Bacteria |
abstract | This application pertains to methods for the whole-cell analysis of intracellular bacteria. The methods are capable of making a determination of whether or not a sample (e.g. a clinical sample) comprises one or more select bacteria within host cells, for example, predatory host cells such as phagocytic cells. The method is performed on substantial intact bacteria and may be performed without the use of permeabilising or lysis reagents and using PNA probes. Furthermore, the application pertains to in situ hybridization methods for Gram-positive bacteria performed using buffered saline for hybridization. |
