abstract The compounds of formula (I) wherein X is H2 or O; R<1> is hydrogen, hydroxy, halo, trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, alkyl, alkoxy, aralkoxy, alkanoyloxy, amino, mono- or di-alkylamino, alkanamido or alkanesulfonamido; Z is defined by formula (II), (III) or (IV) wherein R<2> is hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above, omega -phenylalkyl or omega -diphenylalkyl, in which the phenyl ring is optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above, or R<2> is naphthyl, indolyl, indazolyl, thienyl, pyridinyl, pyrimidinyl, quinolinyl, benzoisothiazolyl or benzisoxazolyl, each optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above; R<3> is hydrogen and R<4> is hydrogen, 1-benzimidazolyl-2-one, indolyl, benzoisothiazolyl or benzisoxazolyl, each optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above, or R<4> is -Y-Ar, in which Y is C=O, CHOH, or (CH2)m, wherein m is 0 to 4, and Ar is phenyl, optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above; or R<3> and R<4>, taken together with the carbon atom to which they are attached form (V) or (VI) in which R<5> is hydrogen and R<6> is phenyl, naphthyl, thienyl, indolyl, benzoisothiazolyl or benzisoxazolyl, each optionally substituted with R<1> as defined above; or R<5> and R<6>, taken together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached complete a benzene ring optionally substituted with R<1>; or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; are useful for the treatment of brain dopamine dysregulation.
