abstract Sensor, esp. for detecting specific particles and molecules, comprises: (i) a plate-shaped substrate (in which acoustic plane waves can be formed); (ii) two electroacoustic converters on one or both surfaces of the substrate; and (iii) a reactive layer, on one surface. The first converter emits an acoustic wave of first fundamental frequency, and its 'm' higher harmonics, while the second receiver an acoustic wave at a second fundamental frequency and its 'n' higher harmonics. At least one of the harmonics of emitter and receiver have the same frequency.
