titleOfInvention Process for the production of fibers or films using special molding solutions, and the fibers or films available thereafter
abstract The prodn. of fibres or film comprises (a) producing an aromatic polyamide by polycondensation of diacid dihalides, at least 90 mole% of which have the formula (I), with at least 2 diamines, at least 90 mole% of which have the formula (I), with at least 2 diamines, at least 90 mole% of which have the formula (II) and opt. (III), in N-acyl-lactam or pref. NMP as solvent, opt. in presence of a salt to increase the solubility of the polyamide, so that the proportion of units derived from (II) in the polyamide is at least 50 mole% (w.r.t. (II)+(III) and the polyamide itself is soluble in organic solvents Hal-OC-Ar<1>-CO-Hal (I) H2N-Ar<2>-NH2 (II) H2N-Ar<3>-NH2 (III) Ar<1>, Ar<2> = arylene with free valencies in the para or corresp. parallel or coaxial position; Ar<3> = metal-arylene or corresp. angled structure; (b) opt. storing the mixt. at 40-100 (pref. 60-70) deg C; (c) forcing the polyamide soln. obtd. through dies of the required cross-section at 40-120 deg C to give fibres or film; (d) removing the solvent by known methods to give low-solvent or solvent-free fibres or film with adequate mechanical stability and lack of stickiness; and (e) opt. stretching by known methods. Also claimed is the above spinning/extrusion soln. (a) for the prodn. of fibres or film. Also claimed are fibres and films contg. at least 90 mole% of polyamide units of formula -OC-Ar<1>-CO-NH-Ar<2>-NH (VIII) and opt. -OC-Ar<1>-CO-NH-Ar<3>-NH- (IX), with a content of Ca and/or Li cpds. of less than 100 ppm w.r.t. dry wt. of polyamide.
