titleOfInvention | Process for the surface treatment of moldings made of cellulose-containing, vegetable material |
abstract | A process for the surface treatment of shapes made of vegetable material containing cellulose entails here the application of a water suspension of paper fibre and starch to the shapes. Also claimed is the formation and application of treated shapes according to the process as packing stiffening pieces or for the packing of goods. Pref. the suspension, containing a mixture of dry, fibrillated, e.g. waste, paper with water and starch is boiled, the starch being a non-paste grain or potato starch in a ratio to the paper material of between 1:10 and 10:10, pref. between 4:10 and 6:10. The following additives may also be used a pref. mineral wax for water repelling properties, pref. integrated in the suspension, an impregnating water soluble silicate, esp. a common water-glass, and natural colour pigments added to the suspension or the silicate soln. which may be applied as a spray, a paint or an immersion fluid. |
