abstract The novel feature in a PVA-based polarisation film is that it contains as light polarisers both (i) polyacetylene and (ii) a dichroitic dye with an absorption max at 350-490 nm. Claimed prodn. is by polymerising acetylene in a PVA soln., followed by either (a) mixing the soln. with dye (ii) and forming a film, or (b) casting or extruding the soln. with a dye (ii) soln. to form a film, the film in either case being stretched 3-12 times.
