abstract The invention relates to ink-jet printers in which a fixing stage is arranged downstream of the printing-ink application head (1; 1a, 1b). In order to accelerate the fixing and to lower the power consumption, the fixing stage is fitted with a radiator (2) which emits UV light. An open, dielectrically impeded discharge (23') is also proposed. The invention also relates to the photochemical fixing method itself which is initiated and completed by this UV lamp (2) in the dye mixture which can be configured as printing ink or toner. <IMAGE>
