abstract The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for detecting, extracting and separating off pyrolysis products liberated by synthetic-resin binders or plastic patterns during the filling of mould boxes (1). In order to further develop such a method and apparatus in such a way that the said products can be extracted directly, reliably, without problems and in a simple and economical manner, the proposal is that the exhaust air coming from the extraction lances (2) should be collected in a collecting vessel (4) held at negative pressure by a vacuum blower (5), into which collecting vessel secondary air is furthermore introduced, and the exhaust air diluted in this way is fed to at least one separation stage (17) before emerging into the free atmosphere. <IMAGE>
