titleOfInvention | Process for the denitrification of waste water |
abstract | For the denitrification of sewage, in a two-stage biological purificn. assembly, an additive contg. carbon is fed to the sewage directly before it enters the denitirification basin. The additive is held in a container tank. Pref. the additive, contg. carbon is used as a diluted soln. delivered by a dosing pump from a supply tank into the mixing channel for the sewage. The additive is of organic acids, alcohols or vegetable oils. The organic acids can be acetic, formic, staenine, fatty, oxalic, lactose, tartaric, citric, propionic, butyric, pentane, hexane, glycerine, glycol, methylpropanol, pentanol, hexanol, heptanol, octanol or isonanol. The alcohol can be ethanol, methanol, butanol or isopropanol. Biochemical prodn. waste water can also be used from the chemical industry, or residue from wine prodn. or mash or must. Any pptd. and flotation sludge is absorbed in the denitrification basin. The matter is recirculated in the dentification basin by an immersed stirrer and the basin is aerated. After denitrification, the matter is finished in a basin with further aeration. The sewage is settled before denitrification. Any phosphate pptn. is initially after denitrification. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique is for the removal of nitrogen cpds. from the sewage, by nitrate reduction through bacteria to release the nitrogen. The system can be installed in existing plant, with reduced labour for its operation and without increasing the plant size, for a cost-effective action. |
