abstract |
Gas producing compsn. contains sodium azide and an oxidising agent as the main components, plus 2-8 wt.% magnesium aluminate and possibly 4-10 wt.% silicon dioxide obtd. from colloidal silicon dioxide. USE/ADVANTAGE - To produce the gas for air bags used in vehicles. The residue left after gas prodn. is easily collected by a small amt. of additive material which converts it into non-harmful material. At the same time, a high burning speed is maintained without the feat of an increase in burning pressure. No special filter device has to be used. The measurements and weight of the holding container can be reduced. |
