titleOfInvention Contrast agent for ultrasound diagnosis
abstract A contrast agent for ultrasound diagnoses consists of an aq. medium contg. gas filled particles each of which has on its surface, a magnetic ferrite layer. The particles are hollow particles, esp. hollow glass pearls esp. of specific wt. 0.3-2. The ferrite coated hollow particles have specific wt. 0.9-3 (esp. 0.95-2, esp. pref. 0.98-1.1). The dia. of the particles is 200 microns or below (esp. 100 or below, esp. pref. 50 micron or below, in partic. 1-3 micron. USE/ADVANTAGE - The contrast agent can be used in medical ultrasound diagnoses. The contrast agent can be localised using a magnetic field; thus a smaller amt. of contrast agent can be used. The contrast agent can be administered to the living body with the aid of a magnetic field and then immediately removed, to reduce side effects. The contrast agent can be used in ultrasound diagnoses in a fluid stream (e.g. urine), and the sensitivity and removal are both increased using a magnetic gradient applied outside the body.
