titleOfInvention Use of bags made of foils made of water-soluble plastic for packaging Al or Al bronze powder
abstract The use of water-soluble plastics, e.g. PVA, film for packaging Al or Al bronze powders (I) in sealed bags is claimed. PVA with an average deg. of polymerisation (DP) of 800-2000 and mol.wt. of 30000-100000 is used. The film is 20-100 micron thick. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used in the prodn. of cellular concrete. (I) are hazardous, since they burn readily and (I) dust is explosive. Packing (I) in gas-tight sealed bags prevents further reaction or explosion, without the need for treatment with glycols or glycol ethers, and simplifies transport. Using water-soluble bags simplifies use and avoids the risk of explosion at this stage, since (I) need not come into contact with air. Since the bags dissolve in the water used, there are no disposal problems.
