titleOfInvention Linear motor
abstract The linear electric motor has a cylindrical ferromagnetic bar armature (22) extended by aluminium end-pieces (23) which is able to slide within an E-shaped magnetic yoke (12). The centre limb of the yoke (12) is either permanently magnetised or is surrounded by a coil (25) for electro-magnetisation. Two coils (21) encircle the bar on either side of the centre limb by means of which the normally symmetrical and divided flux path (26) induced by the magnet can be increased in either the left or right hand path and correspondingly reduced in the opposite path by the action of the flux (27). The bar is thereby moved left or right due to magnetic asymmetry depending on the flux direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simply constructed assembly with alternative modular parts to suit required stroke length. Longer power stroke without increase of cross-section to counter saturation. Minimised inertia and short response times.
