titleOfInvention | Electrochemical oxygen sensor with an atmospheric oxygen electrode as a reference electrode |
abstract | The oxygen sensor has a housing contg. an electrolyte connecting measurement, counter and reference electrodes. The electrodes are connected to an evaluation unit which maintains the potential of the measurement electrode constant wrt. the reference electrode. A metal/metal oxide atmospheric oxygen electrode (5) is used as the reference electrode for measurement of oxygen. The metal is selected from the group of iron and/or copper metals (Group VIIIb and/or Ib). The metal oxide is pref. an oxide of either platinum or iridium, while the metal part of the electrode is gold. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for determining the constituents such as CO, NO and hydrocarbons in ambient air; for oxygen measurement, or breath alcohol content. Durable. |
