titleOfInvention | RESOURCE RECOVERY SYSTEM |
abstract | Waste material from solid propellant fuel for rockets is processed in order to recover valuable aluminium particles and oxidation medium, in a re-usable form and the residual solid matter is incinerated (64) in an environmentally friendly manner. The fuel is removed from the rocket housing by a wet decomposition process and then has an oxidation medium content of 40 to 50 percent by weight. The oxidation medium content is then reduced to 35 to 45 percent by weight by means of a high velocity underwater maceration process. The residual material, which for the most part consists of aluminium and a binder matrix is disposed of in an enclosed incinerator and the aluminium is recovered in the form of aluminium oxide of a very high standard of purity. USE/ADVANTAGE - Recovery of valuable material from waste rocket fuel by a method which does not cause harm to the environment. |
