titleOfInvention New fullerene derivatives, processes for their preparation and their use
abstract Fullerene adducts (I) obtd. by reacting di-sec.-amine of formula (II) with 60 C and/or 70C fullerene (III) and their acid addn. salts are new. In formula (II), R1 = 2-4C alkylene; and R2 and R3 = 1-6C alkyl; or R2R3 = 2-4C alkylene. Pref. (II) is piperazine (IIA), and (I) are specifically mono-adducts. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used as electroconductive materials (claimed). They are suitable for producing conductive coatings from soln. (I) are also useful as complex ligands, e.g. for modifying catalysts. Reaction of (II) and (III) gives mainly the mono-adduct, which is very easily sepd. from poly-adducts by conventional methods (column chromatography and opt. recrystallisation) and hence can be recovered in pure form. Unreacted (III) is also sepd. and can be recycled. (I) are conductive in the solid state and the mono-adduct of 60 C (III) with (IIA) is an intrinsic conductor.
