abstract |
Compsn. consists of a colour developing electron donor cpd. (I) an electron acceptor (II) which: (a) develops (I) on heating to a colour development initiation temp. (T-c) above the m.pt. of the mixt.of (I) and (II) to form a coloured material (III) with regular aggregated structure (III-ag), and (b) can crystallise from (III) if (III-ag) is destroyed by heating (III) to a bleaching initiation temp. (T-b) below T-c to give a bleached state, colour development and bleaching being reversible; and an organic cpd. (IV) acting as bleaching accelerator which is dispersed in the compsn. in the form of mols. or minute domains and induces destruction of (III-ag). (IV) may pref. be a cpd. which melts before destroying (III-ag) or a cpd. acting as a seed for crystallisation of (II). USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. is claimed for use in reversible colour thermographic material which has a substrate coated with this compsn.. Stable copies are obtd. which can be bleached completely and rapidly in a wide temp. range, whilst development and bleaching can be repeated. |
