Producing cellulose fibres, filaments and film (I) is effected by the dry-wet extrusion method from a soln. of cellulose in a water-contg. tert. amine N-oxide, esp. N-methylmorpholine N-oxide (MMNO). The process comprises extruding the soln. through a die into a non-precipitating medium (II), orienting the cellulose molecules by drawing the extruded stream of soln. in medium (II) and then precipitating the cellulose by contact with a pptn. medium (III) with no appreciable stretching. A stream of soln. with preoriented cellulose molecules is produced by the shear gradient in the die channel, and the stream is drawn out in medium (II) with draw ratio V = less than 3. |
