titleOfInvention OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM FOR A VARIETY OF WAVELENGTHS
abstract An optical recording medium in the form of a glass disc substrate has formed rings with channels filled by a Zn.S coating (3). This is then covered by successive layers of material which can be removed to create cylinder regions providing different wavelength reflections when a laser is used to read the disc. The successive layers are in the form of polystyrene (4), Zn.S (5) and recording layers (6,7) of a mixture of a polymer and a chromophore. A polystyrene layer (8) is located between the recording layers and all three are separated by light reflecting Zn.S layers (9,10,11). ADVANTAGE - High density recording with stable performance.
