1-(Omega-Amidoalkyl)-diazole, triazole or tetrazole derivs. of formula (I) are new, where R1 = opt. mono- or polyunsatd. 5-21C alkyl or aryl; n = 2 or 3; R2 = H, 1-4C alkyl or prim amino; X,Y,Z = N, CR3 or CR4; R3, R4 = H or 1-4C alkyl; provided that the ring contains at least 2N. Specifically claimed are, 1-(2-decanoylaminoethyl) -imidazole, 1-(2-decanoylaminoethyl)- 1,2,4-triazole, 1-(2-dodecanoylaminoethyl)- imidazole, 1-(2-isotridecanoyl aminoethyl)-imidazole and 1-(2-tallow or soya alkanonylaminoethyl)-imidazole. USE/ADVANTAGE - The use of (I) is claimed in water supply systems as corrosion inhibitors for copper, aluminium or their alloys; as preservatives or disinfectants; or as finishing agents for textiles. (I) are pref. used in aq. soln. of concn. 0.1-50 (pref. 0.1-10)ppm. They are used in water supply systems at pH 1-14 (pref. 7-12). (I) have high water-solubility and are effective corrosion inhibitors over a wide pH range. They are inexpensive and environmentally acceptable. (I) show antimicrobial activity against, e.g., E.coli, Ps. aeruginosa, Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger at 50-100 ppm. |
