titleOfInvention VEHICLE SEAT AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
abstract Seat has a fixing to provide a seat itself, an elastic material held by the fixing at the ends, and an elastic suspension system to hold the fixing or the elastic material at the centre in the upper diagonal outer direction w.r.t. the seat; and structure also has an arrangement to load the fixing at the centre in the lower outward direction w.r.t. the seat and to apply a predetermined tension. The prod. pref. has a network of elastic polypropylene or polyester fibres to form the seat. The cushioning used is pref. polyurethane foam, and a cover used is pref. polyurethane elastomer. Pref. features are the cushioning (12) and the frame (14) for the seat. The upholstery (12) has elastic threads (24,26), with ends held between strips (16) and (20), also between those others (18,22) to form a network. This has a polyurethane foam upholstery (44) and cover (61) to form the seat. To ensure that the elastic threads (24,26) are held tightly, ends are wound round small lugs (30). These (30) fit into matching holes in cover strips. The threads used (24,26) are made of porous polymer to have a long service life. The structure has a stress/strain curve in which the initial load of sitting down on it produces a larger yield rate than that of further loads; and gives the user an initial feeling of softness, whereas earlier seat designs give the impression of sitting on the floor. ADVANTAGE - Produced by a short process requiring few components.
