The object of the present invention is an agent for the oxidative colouring of hair containing at least one coupling substance of general formula (I) in which R is a straight-chained or branched C1 to C4-alkyl radical, X is chlorine or fluorine and R<1> is a straight-chained or branched C1 to C4-alkyl radical or a straight-chained or branched C2 to C4-hydroxyalkyl radical, and novel 5-halogen-2,4-bis(alkylamino)-1-alkylbenzols. The coupling substances of formula (I) are obtainable by simple chemical reactions, easily water-soluble and, especially as a component of the hair colorants described here, have a good shelf life. The colour results obtained with the hair colorants of the invention are characterized especially by the colour intensity of the red hues and good colour purity in the blue hues, besides the large range of tints. |
