AGENT FOR STIMULATING THE DIVIDING ACTIVITY OF ANIMAL CELLS |
abstract |
An agent for stimulating animal and human cell division has applications in the areas of biological-medical fundamental research, in biotechnology and in the pharmaceutical industry. The disclosed agent is characterized by nucleotide sequences with a complementary (anti-sense) sequence to specific domains of the mRNA of tumor suppressor genes or other genes having a negative effect on cell division. Synthetic oligonucleotides having at least 15 nucleotides, preferably 18 to 21 nucleotides, in length are preferably used as a nucleotide sequence. An amount of the agent comprised between 5 and 30 mu M is added to the culture medium and its concentration should remain essentially constant during cultivation. |
