titleOfInvention | electropolymerization |
abstract | An electrolytic polymerisation process is claimed, for producing polymer layers on metal surfaces. The process involves anodic polymerisation with the aid of pulsed voltage or rectified a.c. voltage. The process is suitable for coating pure metals or multilayer systems, e.g. Fe/Zn, Fe/Zn/ZnO. The coating bath contains amines such as allylamine, diallylamine, N,N-methylenebis-acrylamide or 2-di-isopropyl-ethylamine (antioxidant and corrosion inhibitor), with monomer: amine ratio (1:3)-(1:6), and a surfactant such as Surfynol 104 (RTM). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process enables the deposition of corrosion-proof layers on metallic substrates in a basic medium, using the smallest possible amts. of energy; the polymer layer obtd. is more dense and homogeneous than layers produced with a d.c. voltage |
