abstract Water-gel (I) comprises 0.1-5 (pref. 0.6-0.7)% polyacrylic acid with m.wt. of up to 4,000,000 and is neutralised with sodium hydroxide to a pH of 6.5-7.5. (I) is pref. reacted with other salt-formers, e.g. alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, NH4OH or amines. (I) is not neutralised. Other gel builders are used e.g. cellulose and its derivs. (esp. carboxymethyl cellulose), alginate, agar-agar, gelatin, pectin, polysaccharide, silicic acid or montmorillonite. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is used in plant nutrition (claimed). Plants can be fed for up to four weeks using (I).
