The cooling unit (2) of the insulated container (1) is driven either by an electric motor (7) or a hydrostatic transmission coupled to the truck engine (3). The hydrostatic drive operates from a drive shaft (8) in the engine and can by-pass the gearbox (4). The electric motor can also be used to drive the hydrostatic drive, uncoupled from the engine, to move the vehicle in emission controlled areas. An external coupling (21) to a power supply provides power in a warehouse/store, and recharges the batteries when the engine is switched off. The electric motor operates as a generator when the engine drive is operated to recharge the batteries. ADVANTAGE - Versatile cooling system; energy efficient cooling; clean emission control. |
