abstract Microbicidal compsn. comprises at least phenolic active agent (I) and at least on pyrithione deriv. (II). (B) active agent compsn. comprises 2-phenylphenol (Ia) and/or a metal salt of (Ia), and 2-mercapto-pyridine-1-oxide (IIa) as the Na and/or Zn salt. Pref. the compsn. (A) the phenolic active agent is (Ia), 4-chloro-3-methylphenol and/or 2-benzyl-4-chlorophenol and/or metal salts of these. The other agent is (IIa) or 2-hydroxy-pyridine-1-oxide and/or the Na and/or Zn salts of these. The compsn. (A) also contains diluents and/or binders or fixers, and opt. siccatives, UV-stabilisers, colours, pigments, process additives, fungicides, and insecticides. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used in protection of wood (claimed). The use of compsn. (B) in protection of technical materials in general (e.g. paper prodn) is also claimed. The compsns. of cut wood. The active agents set synergistically and are ecologically favourable over highly halogenated cpds. The compsns. may also contain insecticidal cpds.
