abstract Microporous, absestos-free permeable diaphragm for electrolysis cells, esp. chloralkali cells, made from unmodified PTFE and 1.5-12.5 wt% (w.r.t. matrix) of a highly functionalised PTFE as hydrophilising agent of largely identical polymer type. USE/ADVANTAGE - The diaphragms have a high resistance to rediffusion and migration of OH ions, a low voltage drop over the diaphragm and good strength and flexibility, are easy to make by a simplified rolling or pressing process, and give good results and long service life in chloralkali cells.
