abstract With the colour measuring unit, a statistically sufficiently large number of measurement value triads obtained from colour stimulus specifications determined from the surface, at measurement places distributed at random over the surface to be measured. From these, colour values in the colour space defined body are determined and the surface geometry is evaluated. The corner points of the polyhedron formed by the measurement points in the colour space are determined, and are used for the colorimetric characterising of the colour components of the surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Quality control of coloured/printed textiles, paper etc. Allows on-line colour measurement without auxiliary surface scanner. Uncoloured surfaces disturbed by surface defects are automatically eliminated as well as spaces between individual places on transport belt. (4pp Dwg.No.0/0)
