titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR LARGE-AREA METALIZATION AND USE OF THE COMPONENTS PRODUCED THEREWITH |
abstract | Metallising gauze, fleece, fibres and bodies having honeycomb, spongy or porous structures made of organic or inorganic material consists of dipping in a soln. contg. a metallorganic cpd. After wetting, the material is irradiated with UV light to decompose the metallorganic cpd. and produce a metallic coating. The soln. consists of palladium-acetate, acetylacetonate, or chloride, nickel acetate or copper formate dissolved in alcohol, ether or water. The UV radiation has a wavelength of 100-350nm and is produced by an excimer beam using a filler gas of helium, argon, argon/fluoride mixt. krypton/fluoride mixt. xenon or xenon/chlorine mixt. The coating produced is strengthened by further coating with 30 um layer of Cu, Ni, Pt, Al, Au or Cr. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for producing catalysts, water storage devices and H2 and water cleaning devices. Allows metallisation of organic and inorganic bodies even when body has low temp. resistance. |
