titleOfInvention METHOD OF EXPRESSING A POLYESTER ELASTANE YARN OF A HIGH-ELASTIC FABRIC
abstract Prodn. of patterns in textile sheets (I) comprises dissolving away, opt. at elevated temp., one type of yarn by the local selective action of chemicals which are able to destroy that type of fibre, and then washing out the fibre (`burn-out'). The textiles contg. elastan and cellulose yarn are patterned by imprinting the bonded and/or fixed elastan yarn with etching printing paste according to the intended pattern, then destroying and dissolving away the treated areas at elevated temp. More specifically, (I) contains polyester-elastan and cellulose yarn, and opt. other types of yarn, and the polyester-elastan yarn (II) is printed with strongly alkaline paste according to the required pattern, then destroyed by heating for 1 min.-1 hr., pref. 3-30 mins. at 99-140 (pref. 100-110) deg.C, followed by washing and opt. neutralisation; (II) contains flexible segments of aliphatic polyester with mol.wt. 500-5000, based on adipic acid and low-mol. wt. diols or a special polyester based on carbonic acid (polycarbonate) and (cyclo)aliphatic, low-mol.wt. diols or lactones; (II) contains at least 20 (pref. above 50, esp. above 70) wt.% flexible polyester segments, opt. in addn. to flexible polyether segments, and (I) contains 2-40 (pref. 3-20) wt.% (II), at least 40 wt.% cellulose yarn based on cotton, viscose, copper-oxide/ammonia yarn or cellulose acetate, pref. cotton, and opt. other alkali-resistant yarn, esp. polyalkylene terephthalate yarn or polyether elastan; pref. (I) consists of polyester elastan (II) and cotton yarn, with (II) firmly bonded or fixed in the textile by warp-knitting, straight- and circular-knitting, double-rib knitting or by the Duolastic process (RTM); textile sheets (I) are claimed, contg. at least 2-40 wt.% polyester elastan filament yarn (II), at least 40 wt.% cellulose yarn and opt. other alkali etch-resistant yarns, in which (II) are dissolved away in the form of a pattern and the remaining polyester elastans are so firmly fixed that they do not slip out on the pattern, esp. textiles produced by the above knitting processes, pref. contg. polyester-elastan and cotton yarns. USE/ADVANTAGE - The invention provides a process for patterning elastan/cellulose-based textiles by treating the fabric according to the intended pattern with an alkaline printing paste, and then washing out the disintegrated elastan component
