titleOfInvention IMPROVED METHOD FOR PRODUCING BIS- (4-FLUORPHENYL) METHYL (1H-1,2,4-TRIAZOLE-1-YL-METHYL) SILANE
abstract An improved process for the prepn. of bis(4-fluorophenyl) methyl (1H.-1,2,4-triazol-l-ylmethyl) silane (I) comprises (a) reaching 1H-1,2,4-triazole (II) with NaOMe in molar ratio 1:0.8-0.95 in a MeOH/DMF mixt. in the absence of moisture and in an inert atmosphere; (b) evaporating in vacuo no dryness and (c) reaching the residue in DMF with chloromethyl-bis-(4-fluorophenyl)methyl silane (III) in wt. ratio 0.8-0.9:1. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) can be used to control fungi which cause diseases. The process gives (I) in yields of about 90% which is up to 50% better than in previous processes. The absence of water and the use of certain ratios of components reduces the formation of by-prods. and increases the purity of (I) compared to previous processes
