titleOfInvention METHOD FOR CASTING CAMSHAFT BLanks FROM DIFFERENT IRON MATERIALS
abstract To cast camshaft blanks, from different ferrous materials, the mould is fitted with a dividing plate (13,13') at the point between each main section (4) an a drive or take-off section (7,8) at the camshaft blank (1) at the hollowed sections of the mould. Pouring channels (14,17) lead to the various sections of the casting (1), with pouring funnels (15,13) and feeds (16,19). The molten metal (B) for the drive or take-off sections (7,8) is poured at the same time as the molten metal (A) for the main section (4) of the camshaft blank (1) so that both molten metals rise on each side of the dividing plates (13,13') at the same speed. The two different molten metals (A,B) bond together at the contact points at least indirectly through the fusion of each dividing plate (13,13'). ADVANTAGE - Process simplifies later finishing, and improves the bond between different types of metal in the casting.
