titleOfInvention | LACTAM MELTING WITH INCREASED VISCOSITY |
abstract | Lactam mixts. with relatively high melt viscosity contain omega-lactam (I), esp. epxilon-caprolactam (IA), together with 1-15, pref. 3-12, esp. 4-10 (wt.)% unsatd. vinyl aromatic-diene block copolymer (II) in dissolved form, 0-20%, w.r.t. (I) + (II), of substances (III) compatible with (II) and 0-50%, w.r.t. (I)+ (II)+ (III), of fillers/reinforcements (IV) and opt. other usual additives. (II) contains 10-85, pref. 20-80 esp. 30-55% vinyl aromatic units and 15-90, pref. 20-80, esp. 45-70% diene units and may be modified by partial hydrogenation of the soft segments up to a deg. of hydrogenation of 60% and/or expoxidation and/or grafting with reactive monomers and/or other modifiers. (II) is pref. derived from 2- or 4-vinylpyridine, pref. m- and/or p-methylstyrene (or a mixt. of these) or esp. styrene, alpha-methylstyrene plus 2,3-dimethylbutadiene, pref. isoprene or esp. butadiene. (II) may be A'B' diblock, A'B'A or B'A'B triblock or (A'B')n multiblock copolymers or other copolymers with several, opt. star-shaped or branched blocks and opt. mixed blocks (tapered or overlap structures), which may be chemically modified. (II) pref. are SB and SI di- and multiblock copolymers (S = styrene, B = butadiene, I = isoprene), SBS and SIS triblock copolymers, SB or SBS block copolymers carboxylated or grafted with maleic anhydride, epoxidised SBS triblock copolymers, esp. SB diblock copolymers. |
