abstract | In prepn. of an ash-free anti-corrosion agent for mineral oils, esp. for 2-stroke engine oils with pre-mix components, alkylbenzene sulphonic acid mixts. with oil-insol. structure and 1-2 2-32C alkyl gps. are condensed in a 2-stage process with prim. or sec. 16-22C amines in the 1st stage, and with 4-12C amines and HCHO, as paraformaldehyde in the 2nd stage, to an oil-soluble prod. In the 1st stage, 0.4-1.2 mols of HCHO as paraformaldehyde, w.r.t. 1 mol of SO3H, 0.001-0.03 wt% of a foam suppressant, and 0.2-0.8 mols of molten fatty amine w.r.t. mol. SO3H at 60-110 deg.C, are added to the whole amt. of the alkylbenzene sulphonic acid in a reactor, with cooling. After a post-reaction of up to 30 mins., the mixt. is cooled to 70 deg.C and the remainder HCHO, up to 1.8 mols w.r.t. 1 mol SO3H, is added, as paraformaldehyde, and 0.6-1.2 mols of short-chain amine w.r.t. 1 mol SO3H, at 70-110 deg.C, with cooling. The mixt. is heated to 120-130 deg.C and after 30 mins. the water of reaction is removed by N2 stripping. ADVANTAGE - The agent has high polarity, and is used in low concn. |
