HYDROPHOBIER- OR SILICONE-BASED INSULATING AGENT |
abstract |
Silicone-based waterproofing or insulating agents for (in)organic materials contain (1) 5-40 wt.% methylalkoxypoly(disilyl) siloxane (I) made by one step alkoxylation and hydrolysis of disilane-contg. distn. residues from methylchlorosilane synthesis and/or 5-40 wt.% methylalkoxyoligo(disilyl)siloxane (II) made by alkoxylation of (A), and (2) 60-95 wt.% at least one organic solvent. When (I) and (II) are both used, the wt. ratio is 2:100-100:2. (I) or (II) is present at 10-20 wt.%. (I) contains 1-5 wt.% alkoxy (esp. MeO or EtO) while (II) contains 6-20 wt.% alkoxy. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsns. are esp. used to treat wood, mortar, concrete and brickwork to prevent/delay penetration by water (e.g. rising damp). They can be delivered by external application or injection;; are inexpensive and simply provide a high degree of protection (much better than know methylsilicone resin soln.) which lasts a long time. |
