abstract |
Prepn. of implants (I) consisting of a solid esp. metallic nucleus with a tissue-compatible coating, in which the surface of the nucleus is initially roughened, thermally treated at a suitable temperature to form an oxide layer and then coated with a layer of hydroxyapatite. - Also claimed is (I) in which the metallic nucleus consists of a light metal (alloy) or steel (alloy). - Synthetic or natural hydroxylapatite esp. from algae is used and is applied by plasma spraying. The thickness of the coating is 0.05-0.15 mm and has a porosity of 7-10%. The surface is roughened by sand-blasting and has a roughness of 3-8 micron. |
