abstract The invention concerns a method of preparing trans-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexyl ethyl ether with only small quantities of the cis-ether. To this end, 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexenyl ethyl ether is hydrogenated in the presence of palladium catalysts at a temperature of 20-100 DEG C and hydrogen at a pressure of 1-10 bar without using a solvent, and the hydrogenation product worked up in the usual way.
