abstract | Thermographic material has (a) a substrate and (b) a thermographic coating contg. a leuco dyestuff (I), a developer (II), which can develop (I) on heating, and spherical porous particles (III) with a shape factor SL of 2.0 or under and a pore vol. of 0.1 ml/g or more. (b) contains 5-95, pref. 5-80 (wt.)% (III). The material may also have (c) an intermediate coating and/or (d) top coating, in which case (c) and/or (d) and/or (b) contains (III), pref. in amts. of 5-95% in (c) and (d) and 5-80% in (b). (III) have a vol. average dia. of 0.2-20 microns and consist of CaCO3, BaCO3, CoCO3, basic Cu carbonate, Ca or Mg silicate, Cu, Co or Fe oxide, SiO2, Al2O3, urea/HCHO resin, polystyrene, acrylic resin or styrene/acrylic acid copolymer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The material is well suited to thermal heads and gives stable copies. |
