Isolation of annexins (I) from cell lysates is effected by (a) adjusting the pH to 8-10, (b) adding divalent Ca, Cd, Zn, Mn and/or Co ions, (c) adding a phospholipid, (d) washing the cell residue (sic.; after centrifugation) to remove soluble components, and (e) extracting (i) from the cell residue with a chelating agent. N.B. (I) are proteins characterised by Ca-dependent binding to phospholipids and include esp. the vascular anticogulating protein (VAC) described in EP181465./ |
