titleOfInvention METHOD FOR MAINTAINING PHARMACEUTICAL PHARMACEUTICAL FORMS WITH CONTINUOUS AND / OR CONTROLLED RELEASE OF FLUTAMIDE
abstract A continuous and/or controlled release form of flutamide is obtained by mixing flutamide and conventional pharmaceutical excipients with a retarding element constituted by an anionic copolymer of methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate, alone or in combination with other retarding elements. A test to measure release of flutamide and a method to determine the bioavailability of it comprises extraction of the flutamlde with methanol and high pressure liquid chromatography on the resulting solution. The pharmaceutical forms obtained in this way, specifically the tablets, have a longer residence time in the bloodstream, have greater bioavailability and allow decreasing of the dose. They are useful in the treatment of prostate hyperplasia and advanced prostate carcinoma.
