titleOfInvention | USE OF A MIXTURE OF A STERICALLY HIDDEN AMINE AND A BENZIMIDAZOLE-2-CARBONIC ACID ANILIDE TO STABILIZE POLYAMIDES AND STYRENE POLYMERS |
abstract | Utilisation of mixt. (I) to stabilise polyamides and styrene polymers is claimed. (I) contains: (A) 10-90 wt% sterically hindered amine of formula (I): where n = 1 or 2; R = H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C acyl or 7-10C phenyl alkyl; y, in the case of n = 1 is: (a) 1-18C alkyl interrupted by 1-4 non-neighbuoring nitrogen or oxygen atoms and contg. additional hydroxy gps.; (b) 3-12C cycloalkyl; (c) phenyl, unsubstd. or substd. with 1-3 1-4C alkyl, F, Cl, Br, 1-4C alkoxy, methylenedioxy or di-1-4C alkylamino; (d) a gp. of formula (II); (e) 7-12C phenylalkyl or 13-16C diphenylalkyl with additional gps. (d) on the phenyl gps. Y in the case of n = 2 is: (f) 2-16C alkylene; (g) 5-18C cycloalkylene; (h) phenylene- and phenylene gp-contg. alkylene bridges with 8-15C atoms or 4-18C alkylene interrupted with 1-4 non-neighbouring oxygen or nitrogen atoms; (B) 90-10 wt% benzimidazol-2-carboxylic acid anilide of formula (III): X = H, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy or hydroxy. Also claimed are polyamides (II) and styrene (III) polymers stabilised against the effect of light, oxygen and heat contg. 0.05-5 wt% mixt. of sterically hindered (I) and (II). ADVANTAGE - (II) and (III) are superior to prior art esp. w.r.t., the tendency to form tears on the plastic surface and preservation of impact strength. |
