Mouthguard material (I) consists of an EVA copolymer (II), a thermoplastic polycaprolactone with mol. wt. 10,000-100,000 (III) and opt. PVAc (IV). Pref., (I) contains colourants and perfumes. Amt. of (III) is 4-50 wt.%; this reduces the softening pt. of (I) to 60-80 deg.C. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is useful for the prodn. of mouthguards to protect the teeth, jawbones and intraoral tissues from injury, esp. in boxing, rugby, football, etc.. (I) has the necessary elasticity, ease of manipulation and shaping, and high strength and stability, without the disadvantages of prior-art compsns. (e.g. too high softening pt., sticky handling properties, poor strength, easy detachment, etc.). |
